Along with the green pants I got in the mail yesterday (a day early, bless you mail service) I ordered a bunch of stud earrings. And maybe a pair with feathers.

It dawned on me the other day that with babies come grabbing and pulling of shiny things, and I had about one and a half pairs of studs. Yikes. So I put a few in my cart and felt a little more prepared for this little girl to come. I should probably stop kidding myself though and know that she'll be too busy pulling my mane apart to worry about finding earrings in there.

We spend a lot of time wondering what she'll look like. Will she have our curls? What about her eyes? Will she be long and lanky or a little chubber? We do know so far she has my nose. Ultrasounds are so cool! Seeing her little profile and hands and feet make her so much more real. She'll be here before we know it.

Among other things that pregnancy has brought, one of them is my sudden lack of typing skills. My sentences are littered with misplaced n's and r's and probably q's. It's like I have lost all control over that cognitive ability. Is that even the right word? So I really do apologize if I send you a tweet or e-mail that is cryptic or looks like a 5 year old wrote it. You can say it's our baby girls way of interacting with you.

Need a way to spread some cheer? Make some pinwheels, hot glue them together with a sign on them and do a grown up heart attack on your neighbors door. Instant happiness, guaranteed! I'm sure a regular heart attack would be just as welcome, but pinwheels are fun too and then you can be a nerd and whip out your scoreboard like me. I also grabbed a little yellow striped drawstring bag and tucked a few little gifts for her and hung it on the handle.

On our way down to St. George over new years we happened to find the secret Downeast store. The one at their offices that sells things crazy cheap. So I picked up this lovely skirt for $5 and trotted off a happy girl. The good news for you is that Ruche just stocked it! I love the cut; even on my pregnant body it still makes me feel pretty. A big win.

My dreams are getting weird these days. Or maybe telling...last night was probably the funniest yet. There was a closet full of sandwiches in my old church building (those huge cheap subs you buy when you're having a big party) and I couldn't decide if I wanted to start with a roast beef or turkey sandwich slice. But then, I found one with both! YESS. My single tomato slice almost fell off when I was reaching for it (it was on the top shelf) but don't worry I caught it. Even in my subconscious I don't like tomatoes going to waste.

The living room and kitchen are painted! Except one large accent wall we randomly decided on. But when you buy a sample named mineral and fall in love, what are you supposed to do? MINERAL, guys. It's gorgeous. You'll get nice daytime shots of the legit color (no filters!) when we finally finish cleaning up. Because did you know that when you paint, all the junk on your counters and tables suddenly make a heap in the middle of your house? It's true. At least now we can play King of the Castle indoors.

well, what HE has been doing. I painted an accent wall and trimmed a bit-but he has been the painting champion. Oh, and I did make friends with the sweetest old paint man any Home Depot has ever had.

I think Cache came to bed around two last night? Luckily today is a day of rest. Tomorrow brings more paint though! Because kitchens can't paint themselves. So inconvenient.

The New Year: 2012

We thought for new years we'd forgo cold weather and hang out with my Grandparents in St. George.

Cache and I managed to stay up to midnight by accident. Around 10:30 I was mighty hungry (surprising) so we wandered to the kitchen and found my Grandma was still awake watching Antiques Roadshow and HGTV. YES! We don't have cable so shows like those are kind of a treat for me. She called it a night not too long after and we stayed up watching people buy houses we could never afford. All of a sudden we heard car alarms and fireworks! So we looked at the clock and duh, it was bedtime. I mean midnight.

So the first day of 2012 we explored Snow Canyon. Little known fact: it was named after the Snow family that donated it to the state, not because it has white mountains among the red rock. Weird.

Neither of us are very into new years resolutions...we're more if you want to make a goal, do it. Don't wait until january around kind of people. I am working on this lovely little set though. A good way to set my compass for 2012. Love the idea of writing a letter to yourself. Baby will be getting one too.

Thank you all so much for the congrats! Know that if I'm not blogging, it's because the world was lucky I even put on clothes that day. Think any nudist colonies want a pregnant girl? Maybe they have monthly memberships.

Tomorrow is 18 weeks, and that means we are almost halfway through already. It's hard to believe...but the little kicks and flips our over active child has been doing helps remind me. It's already been super spoiled between Christmas and a five-cousin baby shower we were a part of. Yes, I have seven cousins total pregnant! That I know of anyway. I'm on the tail end of the line, there will be four brand new babies in the next three months. We know how to plan. Lots of cousin friends for all.

Can I also say thank you to True Religion for designing maternity pants that actually LOOK GOOD? You have my love forever.

Thanksgiving: A Trip

Like I said wednesday, I flew back east to visit my family for Thanksgiving break. Mister Husband man with his new job got to stay home and bring home bacon for us. (thank you dear!) and I got shipped off to play and eat and nap. My new iphone turned out to be my camera for the trip and there are more photos on my instagram (@thinkingaboutpretty)

Turns out they found a better one! Sneaky parents. I couldn't even tell, except it was amazed that it got taller when we brought it inside. Thought it was just the tree stand. ;)

I also wanted to share something with you guys that really stuck out to me over this vacation. Our ward (and LDS congregation) had the opportunity to join with some other local faiths for an Ecumenical Service the night before Thanksgiving. Each year the Thanksgiving Proclamation is read, something I had never heard of. There are lots apparently, but the one shared was by George Washington in 1789. Enjoy!

I need to find a better spot for pictures than the garage door. I've been lazy and sleeping in and don't have time to shoot photos in cool locations. But I will tell you these khakis and I love each other. They know to make me look nice and tall and I know to love them for their fluorescent orange tags. (I'll get a close up of the orange someday! I keep forgetting.) And crop tops? I think I'm coming around. As long as it's balanced with a long undershirt, we're cool.

Last night I got back from a New England Thanksgiving, ie hanging with my family. Husband only had thanksgiving day off so he lovingly (and me with a big fat twinge of guilt) shipped me off without him. After almost five years of being married, it was really bizarre not having him there. We all missed him, except the cat. Who apparently didn't miss me either. But cats are like that, no?

Even though I dutifully packed my camera, I used instagram the entire trip. So next post will be a lovely little thanksgiving recap!

Something I try and think about when I'm purchasing a new piece is how many different ways can I use this? It's a life long fashion skill I ripped from the pages of Kendi Everyday. If you haven't read her working closet series, you need to. It's now non-optional.

Anyway. These outfits certainly aren't mind blowing or anything, but you need to be able to picture a piece working on your wardrobe. Try and think of at least three unique ways you could wear something when you're trying it on. Can't even think of three? Probably not going to be very handy in your closet, as much as you may like it. Thinking of more? Well go get it already!

Awesome:

-Not caring how bad I am at Zumba and going for the first time last night. Zumba > running. Any day!
-Getting my watch from Meggie's Love. I love love love it.
-The cut of this shirt, which is why you were quite very blessed with a bum shot. Yep.
-My neighbor's friend's explanation of Zumba: "it's just like school dances" only it's not. It's way better.
-Still getting a fabulous hair cut and color even though you have no plan. Which is why I return time and again. And for the laughs.

-The mystery date that my Mister has planned for us tomorrow night. I'm supposed to wear comfortable and pretty clothes. Any guesses what it is? I have ruled out hiking, sky diving, and meeting Kate Middleton.

fabric wrapped bracelets

I've had these for a while but I just am getting to them. They are so quick and fun and can cost you nothing depending on your on-hand supplies. My fabrics were a cotton gingham, a dobby floral, and a menswear suiting piece. They were all left over scraps I had around. Don't use suiting though, it frays horribly! These aren't meant to last years or anything, but after even one wear that suiting is coming to pieces-so avoid. :)

supplies:

sewing machine or needle and thread

plastic bracelets (I thrifted these two for a $1)

1" strips of fabric

a dry double-sided adhesive (this is what I used)

mini glue dots for touch ups

step 1: Attach fabric strips together with sewing machine. Hand stitch if you don't want to haul out the machine or don't have access to one. I used three different strips in the example and two on the other in the photo. Experiment with your fabrics! Try wrapping the bracelet first just to see if you like the spacing and length of the fabrics. Adjust accordingly.

step 2: Place adhesive on rim of bracelet and be generous.

step 3: Attach sewn strip and slowly start wrapping. Add adhesive on inside and outside as you go.

step 4: Inspect and use glue dots as spot checks for places that may be coming up. See how mine has a little bubble? Finish off and tuck fabric end into a spot on the inside rim.

I cannot believe how hot it's been here! Summer apparently arrived. But now the problem is I'm thinking about fall and pumpkins and warm soups and chili instead and wishing for a little cooler weather. Layers please! I am insatiable.

My Grandma and I are canning salsa this weekend! I'm going to try to record this process and hopefully I can share it with you guys as well. :) Are you big on canning at all? I think it's such a great way to have homemade, fresh things in your home and hello totally cheaper. Plus my Grandma's salsa is heaven sent. It's my Mom and I's comfort food. None of this steak and potatoes business...we're salsa people.

You'd think the sun actually came right beside me for this picture, but since my pale legs could be used for reflective tape, the answer is actually no, it did not. But we're going with it!

Today was wonderful because it was Husband's first day at his new job! YAY! Graduated with a real job. Goodness. We feel so blessed and so. very. excited. Now to paint the house, right? More on that (hopefully) soon.

We dropped by Target saturday and they are having some major shoe clearance. I got these (wearing, in a dark taupe) and these for $6.24 each. And they had many more styles. Husband was bumming because there were no mens clearance...he loves Target clearance almost as much as I do. We did find him some very nice Lucky jeans at Costco of all places, however. And they don't have very nice Lucky's for me, so I consider us even.

Do you like that Husband is totally stalking in the shadows? This is what happens when I forget to charge my camera and have to take pictures at 7pm. Lots of shadows. But hey, you can see a tree shadow too, which is exciting for us. That particular tree is now in a different spot...we're figuring it all out.

And thank you all for the dress pants suggestions. I will find some I like! And maybe even some white pants too. That's on my closet wish list. Do you have one of those? I keep a running tally of things that it needs. That way when I'm out and about I think about those essentials items and focus rather than getting distracted by work out clothes and hoodies. Which is what I wished I lived in a lot of times. But apparently that's not chic. WHAT? I won't tell you all about my sweet new work out shoes then. Or maybe I will.

Aren't they preeeeeetty? I know. That's all that matters in a running shoe. The pretty. But know this...these are a giant win from the last pair I had. Only these would not participate in this. No, not these. They will go to the gym with me, though. And we will Zumba together in perfect, sweaty bliss.

Who wants to dig up all their overgrown trees and bring them to our yard? Husband called me today after putting in almost fifteen trees in our yard (!!) and said that probably wasn't enough. Oh boy. Landscaping is expensive...I'm thinking we should have just gone a bit more granola and let whatever grow. We did that we the giant sunflower in our front garden bed and it's the biggest thing we have grown to date. So go us! Or maybe Mother Nature. But still us for not pulling the giant weed out.

These are quite a lot higher than most pants I own. Okay, all pants I own. So that's been different. Not bad, but for this jeans and T girl, what a stretch. Do you guys have trouble with dress pants? These are the first pair in years that I even felt okay buying-they just always seen to make me super wide looking. Any great brands you guys trust and wear? Don't say Old Navy, tried them. Also Gap. And JCPenney and Kohls. Any luck at Express? Haven't tried them yet.

My Mom and I actually unpicked the hem on these and made the teeniest little hem on the bottom so they'd be like an inch longer-Hah! But it helped a lot and was an easy fix. I like to think my body is best in a 34" inseam but that doesn't seem to exist in dress pants. Do you hear me, retailers? LONGS. For the love.

De Saturate

Sometime's I just like photos desaturated. It seemed to match the storm about to not storm over me too. Which was great because we went to the bay with some lovely friends last night and that would have put a damper on our hot dog cookin'. And I got to hold our friends bitty new baby who is so wiggly and cute! Just a bitty burrito. We love when they come play with us.

This little recipe has been floating around pinterest for a while and last weekend I thought I'd give it a go. LOVE. This pic is the third time I'd used it in a row-notice it's getting a bit saggy and frizzy. So I won't be making it an everyday hair gunk, but for a few times a week to shake up my mouse routine? You bet. The first day was hair heaven. You know those days...it's everything you want and more, and it stays that way for more than an hour. Wonderful. Go make some and pretend you're at the beach.

fyi: I used Tresemme hair gel and the epson salt that comes in a huge bag at wal-mart. Incase you wondered.

So I haven't been very good at updating you all on life right now. It's been full of almost entirely wonderful thing things like going to amazing cousins weddings (see above photo) and having my family come out for 3 weeks to camp and play and make merry! Our little family was in charge of the family reunion this year so my Mom and I were crafting and building up a storm, making lots of activities for everyone. A lot of which never happened, haha, but I'll share with you the ones that did! Once my Mom gets her pictures to me.

You see, I didn't hardly take any pictures while they were here this year...holding a camera right now is hard! About a month ago I sprained/tore my ankle. Wheeeee! I was doing a particularly ~~intense~~ awesome TurboFire video and rolled it all the way around, landing ungracefully on my side. Luckily husband was there to convince me to stop working out (boo) and ice it, and I spent a week and a half walking on it with various braces we found at walgreens and wal-mart. My Sister In Law who works at a hospital brought down a boot she had from when she broke her foot and upon sight of said sausage foot convinced me to go to the doctors. X-rays and CAT scans later I was broken free but torn and sprained. So Husband went and borrowed the sweetest set of crutches I have ever seen from our kind neighbors for me. And now re-reading this I see I need a lot of convincing to take care of my ankle. Hah! I go in tomorrow for an evaluation and hopefully I can start recovery! YAY! Just in the last two days the swelling has gone way down and it's starting to look like my foot again, which is awesome. Sausage foot will not be missed.

Seriously minus the ankle deal, summer has been splendid! I have a bunch of tutorials to give you and hopefully I can fit my foot into normal clothes again soon and can take pictures of outfits. Because yoga pants are the only thing that fit over my humungous splint right now, so fashion may have taken a hit. Let's all just be glad at least I can put something on, because otherwise I'd be joining Sydney at the nudist colony. Which still feels like a very valid option right now.

There is a really good possibility this shirt is from the little girls section. I found it haphazardly placed by the exercise clothes and got really excited. So home it came and we have been having a grand time ever since. Husband really likes it too, and he got even more excited for me when he knew it was a random find. Have I mentioned I love him?

My cousin Dawn and her cute family are staying with us for a few days and she is all gluten-free eating, so I thought these would be amazing to try. And the verdict? Just stop right before you put them in the oven and eat the delicious little dough balls. Because 400 degree for 10 minutes, or just 5 for that matter, will make them flat, melted, hard and burnt yuckies. I think it's the temp. Next time we'll try lower for longer, but it's hard to want to experiment when the dough is so amazing on it's own. YUM.

While I was on the phone yesterday with my Grandma, she confessed something to me.

She had been evil.

So I asked what on earth she meant by that, because seriously...my Grandma does not do evil. It's not in her dictionary. She explained that she had cheated on her diet. You see, my Grandma was diagnosed with pre-diabetes not too long ago. She has been nothing but wildly vigilant in her exercise and diet (something she's always excelled at anyway), so this was a little funny to me. Especially because she cheated with steak and an omelet. Not the top of my diabetes worries, personally. But she is a diabetes diet rockstar and it troubled her.

She bravely confessed to Grandpa who quoted her Isaiah 1:15-16. Specifically "cease to do evil, learn to do well". Grandpa got in on our phone conversation by this point and we reflected on the beauty of this scripture...it sums up quite simply the meaning of repentance. Learn being our favorite word because this isn't something you just wake up and it's magically done. Repentance, life, everything is a process. To do and learn are a call to action.

Now Grandma wants something to put on the fridge to remind her, and hello, on the fridge? I love my Grandma. She is wonderful. So I made her a little printable to keep her in sainthood, even though she's already there. And then I thought I'd share, because I love typography. And you. And this ideal. It's just a good karma circle going around.

So life has been a bit up and down lately. Ever since we got back from the cruise it's been full speed ahead on all fronts. But today, Husband is graduating which is so EXCITING! He's walking and getting hooded (which totally looks like a cult, let's be honest here.) and we'll all get ice cream on the quad after. Which is arguably my most favorite part of anyone graduating...the free treats. Maybe if I wear this outfit I'll look close enough like a cupcake or ice cream that I can sneak about five past before they get wise. And by that point I'll be well on my way out waving and saying gracias.

I keep going to write a blog post...keep not really knowing what to say. Because the past week I went through some pretty serious personal matters that were in a word, horrible. But we move on. And I love you all and think the world of you for being the amazing individuals that you are. Thank you. You have no idea the tremendous respect and appreciation I have for each of you. Truly, truly, truly.

So now that I wrote that, I'M HOME! We have hundred of photos we're sorting through...that I should scrapbook before the memories fade. You'll get a little montage soon. Mostly food and pretty places, which is exactly what cruises are perfect for. And I brought you guys back a light tan, but it's kind of fading. Sorry about that.

I'm aliiiiiiiive! HOORAY! And to celebrate we took 500 lb machines in huge snow drifts this weekend with my in-laws. Wow. I've never snowmobiled before so after a few hours of sweet Husband hauling me on the back I was about done. But you guys it was so beautiful up there! I kind of wanted to just walk around, haha. Take it all in. It was so nice to be on top of mountains.

Let's play catch up! This was last weekend. Our play date of friends ended up a little smaller than expected but we still had a rockin time. Meg's homemade pizza dough was supppper good and finding out Amanda will most likely move back to Utah this year?! yes yes yes! These girls are my non-blood sisters and I miss them when they live in Germany.

We make it a goal to go to the temple once a month so saturday was the day! They'll be completely renovating the Ogden temple starting in April so we're trying to appreciate this version as much as we can. Right as our camera battery died a very very large group of teens came out so I counted the dead battery as lucky. No weird looks for outfit photos is always lucky.

The last photo is us ROLLER SKATING! Our insurance company throws a customer appreciation day a couple times a year so we got to skate up. Is that a term? Probably not. But we had fun. Husband can do anything so he was just gliding and spinning and doing all sorts of fancy things while I tried to stay vertical. It worked pretty well. ;)

I hear breakfast being made in the kitchen so I'm off! Happy Saturday! Do something adventurous, okay?

So yesterday (day 18) I may have had a mid-30-for-30 crisis. But instead of going out and buying a car I strayed to the other side of the closet. Dangerous. So say hi to my ruffle tank! It was wear that tank top or say sayonara to this challenge. Life has been on fast track and not that it's been a bad busy, but you know. Some mornings are just not made for spending a half hour in front of the closet. This is where outfit planning would have come in handy...I'm learning!

Word is that learning a second language is the hardest one, then after that they come much easier. (I legitimately have no clue if that's true...I've heard though.) So the second 30-for-30 is the hardest, right? Cool runnings after that. I'm almost there and I am not giving up. But apparently that meant adding one more item. I'll take it if that keeps me sane.

Also say hi to my new snowboarding jacket! Not that I snowboard. But it fits! And it's mint blue! And I love it. We saw it a couple months ago at Sports Authority and I loved it then but didn't buy it. That's a big purchase even if I did need a new one. So when we went back to find boots for the Mr. and it was still waiting for me, we had to jump. It was a sign from the winter coat fairies that we were meant to be. It has more pockets than I'll ever know what to do with too and that excites me.

The party went amazingly last night thanks to a million willing, helpful hands. Super sweet surprise 16 was AWESOME. I'll show you pictures when I get them back from the photographer. (I just make things pretty) and tonight is dinner with four of my most amazing friends ever! I can. not. wait. Giggling, hugging, homemade pizzas, cute cute cute kidlets and husbands to boot. Just what the weekend called for.

My sweet man has not only cleaned our floors and bathroom, vacuumed the house, did laundry, massaged me, cuddled me, blessed me when I had a migrane, cooked dinners, did other things besides all this, but last night he took me out and bought me a new coat, snow pants and perfume. GOODNESS! Let's all virtually high five him okay? Because all this hugging and kissing I'm doing feels insanely inadequate. Perhaps a billboard?

How on earth did I get him. I am so lucky.

Needing a big belt buckle aside, I really did like this outfit yesterday. So much that we went to the salon together and I got my hair done! YESS. It was a little jealous, the outfit, but I had just tailored the shirt saturday so it really shouldn't complain. It got gussied too.

I was teaching a scrapbooking class saturday and so slept in later than I should have. Thus, there was no outfit planning time. I threw the ruffles on top of ruffles and left without thinking twice about the double duty going on. And I like ended up liking it. So I should probably stop over thinking outfits.

After class husband and I took an epic trip around town. We went to TJMaxx and bought new towels! YAY. When we first bought our house last year we got crisp, white, beautiful towels. Being a new house though, we had no grass...just dirt. Then we worked outside, a lot. And the wind blew dirt inside, a lot. And suddenly our towels were not so white. And then last week a pen snuck into our white load and that pretty much settled it. Now we have lovely gray towels. Us: 1 Mother Nature: 1. We'll see who wins this summer.

And don't worry, we stopped in Sam's Club and went to sample heaven. There were yogurts, chickens, jerkies and more. This was after our delicious lunch too. I had smoked salmon tacos and he had tri-tip something or other. We are food champions.

Something about this outfit made me feel thick. Like a milkshake you can hardly drink from a straw thick. Do you know what I mean? It's a weird feeling, this thickness. But you know, it's okay! Life still carried on even though all I wanted was to get off and go to the gym. Hah!

So this morning I thought I had lost our trip photos, right? Well Husband tried to recover but I had already overridden the card with todays outfit (uh whoops?) so he hopped on my computer to see if he could find them hiding somewhere on the harddrive. Turns out he didn't have to look very far.

They were in a cluster in the top top top corner just barely showing.

I may be blonde. But I'll take it because that means they aren't gone! HAH. So a big thank you for all that toe crossing-it worked! Just not how I expected it to.

YOU GUYSS...I lost the photos from our trip. Ugh. I'm a little heartbroken. I'm going to leave the camera in my husbands capable hands and see if he can work some technological voo-doo and get them back. Everyone double cross your fingers for me. And toes? I did get a few somehow, so I'll show ya those. :)

So I forgot how St. George doesn't warm up until the afternoon...so just trust me that my 30 for 30 clothes are under the jacket. Because it's true and I was chilly. But this was at the St. George Art Museum where they had a Charles Becker Exhibit going. Dude is a crazy mix between Jean-Simeon Chardin and Salvador Dali. So much talent.

Also, meet husband! I've never shown him on the blog before. He got glasses last year and now we're an even nerdier couple.

Now meet Snow Canyon. Oh my. I could have spent the whole trip in that place with all it's sweeping rock formations and red hills. And there's not actually snow there...it's just white rocks and calcium deposits and geological things like that. Basically beautiful. I'm so glad my Grandparents love hiking too and take us to these amazing places. Pretty much awesome.

Guess what we get to do this weekend?! Oh you guessed it. Good job. Yes, we're headed south for the winter. If you can call our 35 degrees of no snow winter...but it's going to rock. We have been promised good food, great company, hikes, and museums. Expect picture overload. Also expect a lace skirt tutorial soon...when I get the million photos I took organized. Then we can all be lace-tastic together.

Today a dear co-worker told me these shoes made my legs look a mile tall. How awesome was that? It was extra nice because my frizz-tastic hair was making me feel just a little bit off today, but after that, I walked just a stitch taller. So the next time you look at someone and think of a compliment, do them a favor and say it. It can do wonders. And there's a 99.9% chance they won't think you're weird. Good odds, I'd say.

I'd like to give a shout out to MJ & Akon for getting me out of my posing rut today. I blasted tunes from the car as it warmed up and I shot pictures. Do you fashion bloggers ever have music going? Sure made it a lot more fun...and go by quite a bit quicker than usual. And bonus...now my neighbors will think I'm taping a cheesy music video instead of just taking pictures of myself. This will definently build street cred.

I'm pretty sure this sweater wants to be my 30 for 30 MVP. It keeps calling to me, every day, no matter the outfit. It tells me how soft and warm it is, but still fabulous because it's color is just above and beyond any of the other 30 for 30 pieces. It wins a lot. Clothes are pretty good at convincing me of things.

Friday Fun

When I said Kelli and I were going to look at paper friday I was being completely serious. Her work sent her to Paper school and she invited me to come! She knew I would love it too...and the free food we got. Hello pretzel m&ms.

Our manuals came in cardboard binders!

We learned about how to make paper (we gave each other knowing looks because we made paper in Switzerland and understand it's goodness)

there were notes and very helpful explanations of how paper weighing and grains works. I might get it now.

and paper samples. OH THE SAMPLES.

this one has crushed mica on it. and another was un-tearable (think the new chili's menus)

All in all it was awesome. I heart paper. And Kelli. And since I was a bummer and forgot my camera, here are Kell and I eating the best pastries in the entire world and graduating...but not at the same time.

I solemnly swear...

..I had a blast today! You see, we went to this magical land called SMITH AND EDWARDS. It's a bit of a Utah legend, boasting such things as "we have anything you want, if you can find it." They know just how to get me. Husband needed a hose nosel and I needed to hold his hand. In public. Because it's almost as wonderful as forehead kisses.

So after exiting with hose nosels in hand, we found this fantastic little box car something (Seriously, I don't know what you call it.) because they have random things like this lying about. And he knew exactly what I wanted. Photos! He is smart that man. But then I got shy because I saw cowboys watching me from a-far. Next time I will fiercely look them in the eye and score a fab photo irregardless of their spectating. I did remember to add my day to these photos though! WIN!

Our internet is going bonkers tonight, so I'm giving up the blog race and am going to go cuddle with this handsome man. I can't get enough of him. Night!

So I hope you enjoy all my goofy faces because I was having myself a good time. And only one neighbor saw me (that I know of). Do you like how that semi is about to hit me? It was a close one.

We both got home at 10 o'clock last night so this late post is also quick-I need to SHOWER. I'm going to be spending some quality time with one certain BFF Kelli. Yessss. We're going to have breakfast and look at paper and giggle a lot. Can't wait!

Last night I couldn't decide what I wanted to eat for dinner. Like, at all. I did a good ten minute wander between the pantry and kitchen to no avail. Open fridge. Close fridge. Open pantry. Open fridge again. Back to pantry. Forget to close fridge and it beeps at me. Not helping, fridge.

So I had hot chocolate in a mason jar. Possibly the best dinner I've ever made! We even got out the mini 'mallows and husband showed me his trick. He can throw marshmallows high high in the air and catch them in his mouth! After a few impressive catches by him I tried to throw some for him to catch. They went everywhere but. Marshmallow throwing at a specific target? Not my forte. Kissing him soundly on the lips after? I triumph.

Now, he showed me a trick, so I want to show you my new trick!

I tucked my shirt into my tights.

Is that weird? It seems weird to me but great glory it worked! My shirt was not staying in place today and while I was unpinning the side of my skirt to use the restroom I thought that was a crazy idea. And that shirt stayed put. Go try it guys! And then we can all do a little Urkel dance together. I'll even throw marshmallows in your general direction. Sound fun?

Happy first day of February! We are one month closer to spring. Oh my goodness yes. To celebrate, Mother Nature gave us a solid 5 degrees this morning to greet us. Yuh. But that's just fine with me because a certain wonderful man loves cleaning our garage and it makes it completely possible to still be a tad bit warm in this!

Does anyone watch Chuck? Because it was amazing last night. AMAZING. I was totally all teary eyed at the end...it was so sweet. Ellie and Family and WONDERFUL. And the very end...I might have to go cry a little more before I'm over it. And I haven't even watched Biggest Loser yet. Guys, seriously.

Lunch was a special treat today! Maria and I took a little trip to the Antique Mall-she had never been. She's on the lookout for a fabulous dresser for her oldest son and we got lost for an hour in the maze of vintage smelling halls. The books! Oh you guys the books. I could have spent a month just staring at the bindings, let alone even delving inside. There was a gorgeous necklace there too that I'm regretting not buying. If it's still there tomorrow and I still remember, I may just breakdown and get it. So pretty.

Then around 5:30 I got a text from husband saying he missed my freckles! I love how specific he is in his love for me. :) He was specifically missing my summer freckles after looking at some photos and tell you what I do too. I'm getting the January Blues. Luckily a trip down south is happening in a few weeks! YES! Lots of pictures and hiking and hugging my Grandparents. And hopefully the Egg & I. It will be perfect.

So, should I do 30 for 30 again? Opinions, please. I'm all a dither. And for the record, I adored remixing. So I may have answered my own question. But still tell me what you think.

Brenton Stripe Snow Day

Some bloggers are very prepared and already had their stripe outfit photographed and posted today! This morning even. I was impressed, guys! Sadly I am not that well thought out in my days yet (next time!) and put this little number on this morning. And then I went outside and it was snowing on my stripe day.

And then I had a great time irregardless! Thanks to layering a set of tights under my leggings, I was hardly even cold. Snow play just got more fun and fashionable. Have you tried that yet? I was cozy all day, and just a tad bit firmer. It's like a worked my little tail off when really, I had four chocolate truffles at work today. They were divine, btw.

I know there is just one big stripe acrost (is that a word?) me, but hopefully that's OK! I'm a graphic designer and like my stripes bold.

I had so much fun shooting that I was all smiles driving all the way up to work today too. And snow driving usually makes me shaky and wide-eyed. Not fun. But apparently the solution is just have a ton of fun before I have to do it! Then, not so bad. :) I was also belting this song the whole way and singing it to myself the rest of the day. It's just perfect.

These are my little girl glasses. Also, my only glasses. All the adult pairs were too big for my very center set eyes when I tried them on, so the glasses lady whipped out this pair and we were instant bffs. Who doesn't love a little zebra side print? This morning right as I heard the garage door close from husband leaving, my phone rang. It was his very own special ring tone (from that time we had internet on our phones for like, a month! Hah.) and I got really excited hearing it and ran to the bedroom to get it. He told me to go look at the moon-it was rising over the lake and was just perfect. soft pinks and blue and the reflection...lovely. I was consumed and forgot to take a picture! Dangit. Hopefully tomorrow is does the exact same thing. That happens in nature, right?

My sweater and pants are Christmas purchases..hooray! Gap was having a 40% off sale the day we went in, so it was only maybe $14? I love it. Also, I hate the name jeggings. Lame lame lame. But I love them on me, so I'll just keep calling them my denim leggings like a nerd.

1. I am a sucker for anything pretty. Especially pretty packages. Like the one above that Anthropologie sent me...it's just my rewards card, guys. I took it to show and tell (aka...work) and my boss said "I'm starting to understand why they charge so much!" Because seriously? A blind embossed and stitched and lined pocket to put your order invoice in? And a cloth drawstring bag for a card? Yes, I am in love.

2. Have you seen Wipeout? If I had a bucket list, being on that show would be on it. Really...I want to go to there. Bad.

3. The first three years of college, I was an interior design major. Yep, switched to graphic design when I was a junior! And don't worry, my credits basically didn't switch over. I was a super, super senior. We'll just chalk it up to lots of design experience. And it wouldn't change how it happened anyway, it worked out great.

4. My next degree will be Exercise Science and Nutrition. Also, need classes in letterpress, printmaking, party planning, photography, some serious ancient history classes, and on the list goes. Or someone could just let me live in a museum. Preferably this one.

5. I work out almost every day, thanks to ExerciseTV. If I work out 5 days a week, I treat myself to a dance video. Dancing is wonderful, but only for me to see. There is not one sinew of rhythm in my body.

6. Foods I could do without: salt, butter, potatoes, clams...ok all shellfish, bacon and some other foods I can't remember because I don't like them. For the record, I am a lot less picky than I used to be. Up until a few years ago, I didn't like pie. Who doesn't like pie? Clearly I was crazy. There is currently a pumpkin pie in our fridge right now though, so it's OKAY. I'm making up for lost time. (Also, if you don't like pie, please come over so we can have some. I put sugar in it this time, so I think you'll like it! If nothing else, you'll like the pretty plates + homemade whipped cream and I'll love having you here.)

7. Some things that have to do with me and glass:
I have had glasses since Kindergarten. No thank you, contacts.
I am consistently a glass half full gal. Life is too short to waste being bitter.
Mason jars are my favorite way to drink anything. Everything tastes better in my wide rimmed glass pint.

Ramsey posted yesterday about how she wears F21 everyday...well I am Old Navy everyday. I think having lived in a college town with little shopping options for 6 years is the bulk of the reason. It's always a good time to go to campus and see five other girls with your shirt on! Haha. C'est la vie--at least now I am trying to branch out.

We went to the temple last night! Oh how I love it. And I love that I get to dress up for it. It does put me in a more spiritual mindset when I prepare in the morning and make myself look nice. The sparkly necklace made me really feel extra glam. And the lovely new coat that took a good chunk of my spending money. I really can't care though because I love it and it is super warm and wonderful! And when you live in the Arctic, those two words often don't get to collide.

So I was having a scattered morning a few days ago, running late, lots of things on my mind...and I got pulled over. AAAH. Right as I was turning onto the highway, there go the lights in my back window. He was a sweet cop though; told me good morning and asked kindly if I knew the speed limit of the town I just came through. Sadly, I did not. I guessed 55 (seriously, mind blanked) and he goes "Well, it's 50 and I clocked you at 61" Uh-huh. Totally deserves a ticket, right here, this girl. So he went back and I sat there thinking about how we were going to go pick up a bed frame we found for cheap on the classifieds and that was now down the drain, and he comes back with a little yellow warning slip. OH THANK YOU SWEET MAN. He told me to drive safe and have a good day, and I drove off saying lots of little thank you thank you thank yous.

This quote sums up my sartorial resolution for 2011...buy what suits ME, and only what I absolutely love. No more it looks okay but I really love the color kind of pieces. Only ones I wish I could wear everyday without public mocking. I also need to focus on getting some key classic pieces...a killer button up white shirt, for one.

For Christmas I got a wonderful Forever 21 gift card (THANK YOU MOM&TRINA!) and I think we'll be hitting it up saturday. Since that store is a fashion jungle, I'm trying to think of pieces that I actually want to keep the focus. Some of those shirts really could come to life...hopefully they have safari wear. Besides that, my sweet Husband will be with me and I think two hours in one store might make him crazy. I'm pretty sure it'll make me crazy too.

I saw this outfit on pinterest and thought it was SO SO pretty. Which worked out great because I didn't have an outfit planned for yesterday. So I started trying on a bunch of different kind-of blazer things that just weren't what I was wanting but then I remembered! My interview suit! From like four years ago! OMG! Turns out the jacket and probably everything else are too big, but what do you do? It still worked great as long as I didn't button it up, which wasn't the look anyway. Super.

Gorgeous, right? Love that pink tweed, or herringbone, whatever it is. And I want to make that ruffle top bad. Doesn't look too hard, right? Right. Do you guys look for outfit inspiration? Somedays I just need help...where do you go?

This summer when my family was out visiting I convinced my Mom to help me make a skirt. You see, for many years she tried and tried to get me interested in sewing. Unfortunately, I was highly uninterested. It was neither anime nor mario kart 64. Now all I want is for her to sit beside me all day and let me glean her sewing and cooking and wonderfulness. Life is funny, sometimes. But luckily I have the most kind and patient Mother and even though I had nothing but a picture of what I was wanting, we figured it out. We were pretty excited.
